Our aims
The aims of the Association for Welsh Writing in English are to promote the study and scholarship of Welsh writing in English, to foster the life of the critical community that exists around such scholarly activity, and to provide a forum through which the field of study itself can be both promoted and enhanced.
History
The Association has its origins in December 1984, when individuals from five of the colleges of the then University of Wales (Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, Lampeter and Swansea) met at Swansea to discuss establishing an organisation to promote the study of Welsh writing in English. The Association held its first conference at Gregynog Hall in 1986.
